Total War: Warhammer III just got its biggest expansion yet. Lords of the End Times launched on September 24 with four new Legendary Lords, a free Vampire Counts overhaul, and a first for the series: you do not need to own any earlier Total War: Warhammer game to play the Immortal Empires mode. Here is what is in the box.
The Four Legendary Lords
The paid DLC adds four headline characters:
- Boris Todbringer of the Empire
- Grey Seer Thanquol of the Skaven
- The Glottkin of Chaos
- Nagash, Supreme Lord of the Undead
Beyond the Lords, the package includes 8 Legendary Heroes, 23 battle units, 12 Regiments of Renown, and new gameplay mechanics and objectives. Each character can be bought on its own, or you can pick up the whole bundle at a discount.
No Base Game Required
The most notable change is on the ownership side. According to Warhammer Community, buying the DLC, either a single character or the full bundle, grants immediate access to the world-spanning Immortal Empires game mode without owning any prior Total War: Warhammer title. That is a big shift for newcomers who have been staring at the series without wanting to buy three games first.
What Free Players Get
Alongside the paid content, a major free update adds Neferata, the Vampire Queen, as a free Legendary Lord. It also brings substantial reworks to the Vampire Counts faction and improvements to Archaon’s campaign mechanics. Warhammer Community describes it as the single biggest update in the series’ history, and the patch notes for version 9.0 went live the same day as the DLC.
Between the new Lords, the free Neferata update, and the removal of the base-game requirement, Lords of the End Times gives both longtime players and newcomers a reason to jump back into the Old World. Full pricing and patch details are available on the Steam page, so check there before you buy.
