DC has figured out what to do with the fact that it currently publishes two very different Batmen. Batman of Two Worlds is a one-shot arriving September 19, 2026 as the centerpiece of Batman Day, and it puts the mainline Dark Knight and the Absolute Universe version in the same $2.99 issue with two separate creative teams. Matt Fraction handles one story, Scott Snyder handles the other, and the concept connecting them is deliberately simple. One Problem, Two Solutions
Fraction described the structure as one problem with two solutions, with each Batman responding to the same premise according to the rules of his own world. Both stories are about theft - what stealing means in Gotham as it has always existed, and what it means in the Absolute Universe where Bruce Wayne never had the money.
That framing does real work. The Absolute line's entire pitch is stripping the character down to someone with no resources and no safety net, so running the same scenario through both versions is a cleaner comparison than a crossover would be.

Batman Day arrives in a month where DC is also launching three new ongoing series - Legion of Super-Heroes, Teen Titans, and The Doom Patrol - under its Next Level initiative, all built around being approachable for new readers. Wonder War Act 2 begins in Tom King and Daniel Sampere's Wonder Woman, and Wes Craig's Superman: The Stranger debuts under Black Label. The pattern across all of it is low-friction entry points rather than continuity-heavy events.
Batman of Two Worlds is a smart use of a promotional holiday that usually produces reprints and variant covers. Two top-tier writers, an actual thematic hook connecting the halves, and a price that does not punish curiosity make it a better argument for the Absolute line than any amount of marketing. It hits participating comic shops on September 19.
